Breastfeeding With the Supplementary Nursing System (SNS) This book seeks to dispel these myths and answer the common questions of young mothers, including:
- The SNS is a solution for mothers who experience trouble with breastfeeding and this booklet explains how to use it! Full color and over 30 images!
- The SNS can also be essential for relactation or breastfeeding an adopted infant!
- Is mother's milk always safe?
- There is no other publication that describes how to use the SNS with all the practical AND emotional aspects!
- "This booklet is truly the lactation consultant's jewel." Nicki Ward, BSN, IBCLC
While it is important to breastfeed, a mother might encounter a range of problems with it, from attachment to milk insufficiency and beyond. The SNS is a tool that gives additional nourishment to a baby through a thin, soft tube which lies snugly against the breast and nipple and is attached to a bottle around the mother's neck. The baby will get all the goodness at the same time; mother's milk from the breast and the supplement from a bottle. The baby learns to suckle the breast effectively, gets all the needed nutrients, and mother and child feels connected in just the same way. The SNS is also a breastfeeding device which is often essential for relactation or breastfeeding an adopted infant.
Márta Guóth-Gumberger is a civil engineer by training, but also an
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with
extended personal experience of using the SNS. She has been training and counseling mothers and teaching healthcare professionals about the system for 14 years, she wrote the
SNS booklet in 2006.
